I'M CREATIVE

I mean, that's expected here, right? Good thing I have a website to elaborate.  Yes, I design and I love it. I'd fiddle around with graphic design as a kid showcasing all my typefaces or making flyers for local punk shows and eventually turned that passion into a career. But I also love the "why" behind it—the strategy.  I went to school for it, I've gained years of experience in the industry, as an individual contributor and manager, so that I understand creative work from both the content and presentation sides.  It's business, but it also has to be emotional.

This extends to the bigger picture of brand, which I believe is seen in every expression of the organization and reflected both internally and externally. I focus on the creative side. This means I'm not just going to help create something pretty, I'm going to help create something with strategy in mind that helps reach a goal and aligns with a purpose.

AND DRIVEN

I'm a self-starter and thrive with a good challenge.  I've got a new, unfamiliar project? Cool, let me dive in and research the best solution—I'll make it happen. I don't need novelty for its own sake everyday, and there's something to be said for consistency, but I also like looking at the familiar from new angles and seeing how we can level up with strategy and the resulting insights and ideas. Often, this comes from collaborating with others and working together toward a shared goal. This means I'm always learning and optimizing for what works best.

On the two points above, I should add that it's important for me to align my values and impact with the organization for which I work.  Brand, design, creative work as a whole can be powerful and really make an difference.  I don't want my contribution there to be toward selling socks (note: socks are great), but rather toward progress on (even more) important issues and making a positive difference for people.

RIGHT NOW

Why not now? Currently, I’m the Design Director for San Francisco Travel Association—the official destination marketing organization for the City by the Bay. I’m fortunate to work with an amazing team in sharing this beautiful city with the world. And that’s coming from a Dodger fan.

I hold an MS in Digital Social Media from the University of Southern California and experience in marketing with groups ranging from start-ups to global organizations to non-profits. I’m careful to keep in mind the world much larger than myself and want to align my work toward a more sustainable and just future. This means I’m excited to share my passion, creativity, and expertise!
